As a fan of mashups I am always checking out http://www.mashuptown.com/ These are great mashups and remixes created by underground djs and music lovers the world over. It is all totally free and people are encouraged to remix each others remixes and such. Just another example of young people using technology to create things for each other in an open source way. I'm not sure about a search function out there, but facebook and youtube are generally a decent place where good music finds you.
