Advance & Arrears

Advance = Rent paid in advance means the rent is paid at the beginning of the rental period, before the tenant occupies or continues occupying the property for that period.

Arrears = Rent paid in arrears means the rent is paid at the end of the rental period, after the tenant has occupied the property for that period.
